Firms release PyroSim Brief

MANHATTAN, Kan.--Thunderhead Engineering, in conjunction with Rolf Jensen & Associates, released last month a software package that enhances the features of computer fire model program Fire Dynamics Simulator. The firms designed PyroSim as a graphical user interface for creating input files for FDS and for use with RJA and firms with similar business activities. Developed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, FDS is used to design smoke handling systems and recreate fire situations in residential and industrial environments. The organizations spent two years developing PyroSim, with Thunderhead developing the software and RJA beta testing the applications. The National Science Foundation funded the project.
