Maine adopts latest NFPA codes in October Brief

QUINCY, Mass.--The state of Maine adopted the latest edition of several National Fire Protection Association fire and life safety codes, the NFPA announced in October. They are: NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code; NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems; NFPA 72, National Fire Alarm Code; and NFPA 101, Life Safety Code. "The use of NFPA codes has long been central to fire prevention and safety efforts in Maine, which improves the safety for our residents and their property," said John C. Dean, Maine state fire marshal, in a statement. "NFPA training has given our code officials a better understanding of how to work with the codes and apply them properly." Maine officials participated in a training program developed by the National Fire Protection Association that is offered to states that have adopted key NFPA codes and standards.
