Mission 500 announces security industry service trip to Puerto Rico

MIAMI—Working closely with the security industry to serve the needs of children and communities in crisis, Mission 500 is pleased to announce the date for its third Service Trip to Ponce, Puerto Rico. The devastation from Hurricane Maria has left thousands of residents without electricity and basic supply of clean water and food. This year's trip is scheduled for Oct. 31 to Nov. 4, 2018, where volunteers will work with local partners to help families in need.

“We are excited about the success of the Service Trip and how it brings together the growing community of security industry professionals who care about helping others,” Jeff Eichenlaub, director of strategic partnerships for Mission 500, said in a prepared statement. “More importantly, together we are working to help families whose lives have changed because of the drastic impact of Hurricane Maria that devastated the island of Puerto Rico last year.”

This year's goal is to raise $10,000 in order to provide two families with home renovations.

The cost for the five-day/four-night trip is $450 and volunteers will be provided with lodging, transportation, project supplies and meals. Registration deadline is August 1, 2018 with a maximum of 24 attendees.

In the announcement, Mission 500 urged companies in the industry to get involved in the event and consider sending a small team to help with this important re-building effort.
