NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code and NFPA 101 adopted by state of Maine

September 9, 2004 AUGUSTA, Maine - The National Fire Protection Association said the state of Maine has adopted its 2003 editions of NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code and NFPA 101, Life Safety Code. The Uniform Fire Code was developed through a joint venture between the NFPA and the Western Fire Chiefs Association. It includes articles adopted from NFPA’s Fire Prevention Code and WFCA’s Uniform Code. NFPA 101, Life Safety Code is a set of rules used by fire officials and lawmakers to prevent loss of life from fire, panic and smoke. Maine has implemented the codes statewide in early August.
