Pelco increases work with ObjectVideo On Board

Pelco increases work with ObjectVideo On Board OEM deal will put OV analytics on new “open” Sarix cameras

CLOVIS, Calif., and RESTON, Va.--Video analytics maker ObjectVideo announced in early September an agreement with Pelco, whereby the company’s OnBoard suite of analytics will be placed on selected future Pelco products, beginning with the new Pelco Sarix technology-based cameras, which are scheduled for release in early 2009. A camera operating with OV analytics was prominently displayed at the recent ASIS show in Atlanta. The companies have an ongoing relationship, said Ed Troha, OV vice president of marketing and communications. Previous technology integration allowed information to pass back into a variety of Pelco hardware, “but this formalizes them as a specific manufacturing partner. It’s definitely a significant advancement of the relationship.” Sara Scroggins, Pelco product marketing manager, said the Sarix cameras will be “as open as possible” and ObjectVideo’s commitment to open architecture, as evidenced by its OV Ready program, was important in teaming with the company. However, the agreement isn’t exclusive, and there will be Pelco-developed analytics available on cameras, and there is the possibility of other analytics being placed on board the Sarix cameras. But “ObjectVideo is one of the leaders in the space,” Scroggins emphasized, “and the suite of analytics they provide have high accuracy, as well as many of the solutions the industry needs.” “Pelco is committed to being an open systems provider,” Scroggins continued. “We want to make sure that not only is the camera completely open, with a published API, but also the analytics are open.”
