Post-9/11 protections Brief

NEW YORK--Verizon Communications moved last month into its newly restored headquarters at 140 West Street in lower Manhattan that includes an enhanced building fire alarm system and fire-command station and a new fire suppression system. One of the first art deco skyscrapers in the city, the building, which was completed in 1926, was badly damaged on Sept. 11, 2001, when the former World Trade Center building collapsed on the south and east sides of 140 West Street.
