Power-over-Ethernet consortium created Brief

PORTLAND, Ore.--Eight manufacturers earlier this year formed PoETec, the Power-over-Ethernet Technology Consortium. As of press time, Akros Silicon, Belden CBT, Linear Technology, Maxim Integrated Products, Molex, Phihong, Pulse and Texas Instruments had all signed and returned agreements to join the consortium and thereby commit to "an open marketplace for PoE." The organization is a standards body, where all members agree to certain specifications in their manufacturing.
