Protect America, security website help safeguard war victim's family

SAN FRANCISCO—Protect America worked with besthomesecuritycompanys.com, a home security review website, to provide a free security system to the Byrd family, who lost their husband and father, Jordan Byrd, while he was serving in Afghanistan, according to a news release.

In September 2010, when Savanna Byrd was 23, she saw her husband sent off to war four days after she gave birth to their son Ayden. A few weeks later, she received a phone call telling her that two soldiers were standing outside of her house. When she arrived home, she received the news that her husband had been killed while coming to the aid of an ailing fellow soldier.

A working mother now solely responsible for providing for their 2-year-old son, Byrd found it difficult to find a security system to protect their home.

Besthomesecuritycompanys.com contacted Protect America about the Operation Restoring Safety project, and Protect America decided to donate a security system to the Byrd family. The Byrds received the platinum security system package, which includes three years of free monitoring, the release noted.

“I am really grateful [to] Protect America for donating what they can and doing what they can for my family,” Byrd said.
