Pye-Barker acquires ComTronix, expands footprint in Wyoming

ATLANTA – It has been a busy year of growth for the Pye-Barker alarm division and its latest acquisition gives no hint of slowing down.

On Nov. 9, Pye-Barker announced the acquisition of Wyoming-based ComTronix, a residential security and fire alarm monitoring company. In a release, Pye-Barker stated that this acquisition expands its footprint within Wyoming and further strengthens its growing alarm division. In particular they hope this acquisition will enhance its communication and mass notification service offerings.

Founded in 1989 by Richard Fisher, Bruce Kopperud, and Rob Dobler, ComTronix provides integrated security and life safety systems including: fire and intrusion alarms, 24/7 fire and security alarm monitoring, access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, business telephone systems, overhead paging and structured cabling. It currently operates out of two locations, Casper and Sheridan Wyoming. Kopperud, who became company president in 2011, is a U.S. Military veteran and expressed his honor to work with active and veteran military families.

“We are proud every day to serve the communities we live in and provide life-saving security solutions for our neighbors and friends,” said Kopperud. “We know that Pye-Barker holds the same values as the ComTronix team – commitment to customer care, hard work and community. This partnership will enable us to do more for our customers and our employees.”

“ComTronix is a great fit for the Pye-Barker family as we continue to expand our security offerings,” noted Bart Proctor, CEO of Pye-Barker. “We’re honored to work with the ComTronix team and learn from their 30-plus years of industry experience.”

Going forward, ComTronix General Manager Scott Taylor will oversee the business post acquisition and the company’s experienced alarm professionals will continue to service customers.

ComTronix is just the latest in a growing pile of acquisitions that Pye-Barker has made this year. Most recently the company acquired Metro Fire & Safety Equipment in New Jersey in October and Integrated Security Group in September.
