TechSec 2018 educational program announced

TechSec 2018 educational program announced IHS Markits Jim Dearing to kick off the conference as the first keynote speaker

DELRAY BEACH, Fla.—For years, Security Systems News' TechSec Solutions conference has been the industry's premier event to delve into the most current trends in the security industry and look toward future tech. SSN is proud to announce the lineup of speaker and educational sessions for the 2018 conference, held here Feb. 26 and 27.

"When putting together the TechSec program this year, we not only identified the top technology trends affecting and influencing the industry today, but also looked at ways in which system integrators, dealers and manufacturers can leverage these emerging technologies to provide better solutions to end users while increasing the potential for recurring revenue,” said Paul Ragusa, editor Security Systems News and editorial director for TechSec.

Jim Dearing, senior analyst, security & building technologies for IHS Markit, will deliver the opening keynote. He has authored a range of reports relevant to the physical security industry, including electronic access control, intrusion, residential security and identity management software.

Dearing will present exclusive data on disruptive trends, such as mobile credentials, the threat of IT and the integration of access control with open standards, to give some insight into what the industry should be focused on in the future.

Educational sessions at the 2018 conference address a variety of topics relevant to today's security professionals. The program includes “Is IT Killing the Integrator?,” “State of the Industry: Disruptive Technologies in Security Today,” “Access Control Holds the Keys to New Tech,” “'20 under 40' Panel: Game Show Edition,” “Rise of the Robots within Security,” and “Leveraging AI to Predict and Profit.”

The second day's keynote speaker, Hart Brown, EVP and COO of Firestorm Solutions, will help attendees understand cyber risks and how to build resiliency, alongside hands-on demonstrations. Brown has two decades of experience with insurance, risk management, crisis management, security and cyber-incident protection, both in the public and private sectors.

Every year, Security Systems News honors a new class of upcoming security professionals with its “20 under 40” award. The recognition is given to 20 notable professionals within the security—installers, integrators, dealers and those in monitoring centers—and 20 rising end users. “'20 under 40' Panel: Game Show Edition” features four recent award winners and their take on the viability of new technologies.

At the close of the first day, following the session “'20 under 40' Panel: Game Show Edition,” there will be a poolside networking reception to honor all of the “20 under 40” Class of 2017 award winners—a great event to meet some of the most promising names in the industry.

"We want to ensure that attendees leave with valuable takeaways from the educational sessions, in addition to having opportunities to check out the latest and greatest products in the TechSec exhibit hall, meet '20 under 40' winners from the Class of 2017, and network with leaders from all facets of the industry," said Ragusa.

The conference will be held at the Delray Beach Marriott in Delray Beach, Fla., Feb. 26 and 27, 2018. Visit the conference's website, www.TechSecSolutions.com, to view the entire program and list of speakers and for hotel room block information.
