Vidient integrates with Lenel

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--Video analytics manufacturer Vidient Systems announced this week the integration of its SmartCatch product with Lenel's OnGuard security management software. This inclusion in the OnGuard OpenAccess Alliance will allow integrators who already resell OnGuard to provide an opportunity "for the end user to experience the utility of video analytics being integrated into a system they're already familiar with," said Vidient chief technology officer Skip Cusack "Lenel is a particularly important partner for us," said Cusack, "because they have a history in the industry of embracing new technologies that provide value to their customer base ... and video analytics is a relatively new thing for the security marketplace." For integrators, this "gives them the reach that Lenel has, one of the best known names in access control," Cusack said. "It's just going to be a lot easier for people to use video analytics in that environment." Cusack said the process of integrating the programs was "relatively easy," and that it took three months to complete. Vidient's software uses the data from the OnGuard software to create better alarms generated by its behavioral recognition software, then sends alarms back to the Lenel system so that video can be rendered in the Lenel display. He said Vidient has a "close working relationship" with Lenel, which is a part of UTC Fire & Security. The integration is similar to something Vidient did with Software House for a project at the Tallahassee Airport to eliminate human tailgating.
