XO Communications to provide DSL service to Westec

July 10, 2003 IRVINE, Calif. - In a move the company says will strengthen communication with its customers, Westec InterActive has chosen Reston, Va.-based XO Communications Inc. as its DSL provider. Using DSL services, Westec is able to offer enhanced two-way video and audio communication with its customers, which provides opportunity for vital information and intervention capabilities in the event of a security breach. Because Westec relies on this information to dispatch the proper authorities for its customers, having a reliable DSL provider was key, according to Philip Hashway, executive vice president of Westec. Based on the evaluation of a number of prospects, Westec selected XO. "Throughout our evaluation process we were impressed by the strength of the XO network, the opportunity to take advantage of XO’s communications solutions and XO’s ability to remain nimble and responsive," Hashway said.
