Partnership opens doors to fire jobs for ISS

MIAMI - A year and one half after becoming a strategic partner of Edwards Systems Technology, Integrated Security Systems has increased revenue from fire installations by 50 percent.

The company expected to close with $400,000 in revenue from fire installations in 2003, and foresees ending this coming year with $1 million on that side of its business, according to Michael Smith, director of sales and marketing.

Prince Edward Island adopts latest NFPA safety codes

QUINCY, Mass. - The National Fire Protection Association announced that the Province of Prince Edward Island has adopted the 2003 edition of NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code and the 2003 Edition of NFPA 101, Life Safety Code.

NYC implements carbon monoxide detector law

NEW YORK - Starting in November, all multiple and private dwellings, in addition to educational facilities, in the city of New York were required by law to install carbon monoxide detectors.

First Alert has donated 60,000 detectors to the Fire Department of New York Fire Safety Education Fund to help support compliance to the new law.

TVA to increase national headcount by 15 percent
SAN DIEGO- In an effort to keep pace with customer demand, TVA Fire & Life Safety announced plans to increase its national headcount by more than 15 percent.

The fire protection engineering firm is looking to fill positions in alarm design, consulting, loss control and sprinkler design at its offices in Atlanta, Detroit, San Diego and Seattle.

Tyco merges offices in S.C.

BOCA RATON, Fla.- Tyco International has merged two SimplexGrinnell offices in South Carolina into one in a cost saving measure, but no employees in either location lost their jobs as a result of the decision.
