DALLAS - The American Fire Sprinkler Association is offering several versions of its Beginning Fire Sprinkler System Planning School at a discounted price until July 1.

After that, the price will jump from $1,100 for members and $1,500 for non-members to $1,200 for members and $1,700 for non-members.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - In early March, the state House of Representatives here unanimously passed a nursing home safety bill that would require all nursing homes to disclose to prospective residents whether their facilities have sprinkler systems.

Massachusetts seeks tighter sprinkler regs

BOSTON - More than a year after 100 people were killed in a deadly nightclub fire in neighboring Rhode Island, Massachusetts lawmakers are moving forward with legislation that would strengthen sprinkler requirements, increase inspector training and create strict penalties for violators.

The legislation would require sprinklers in all nightclubs with an occupancy of 50 or more, provide discounted loans and insurance rate incentives for nightclub owners and set up training and enforcement standards.
