NFPA selects new president

QUINCY, Mass.—The board of directors of the National Fire Protection Association has unanimously selected Jim Pauley to be the organization's next president, according to a Jan. 29 news release.

Pauley, now Schneider Electric's senior vice president of external affairs and government relations, will succeed NFPA president James Shannon in July, according to the release.

“This appointment ensures the continued pursuit of the critical mission of NFPA and positions the association to address the challenges of our times,” said Philipp Stittleburg, board chairman, in a prepared statement.

Pauley began at Schneider Electric in 1985 as an application engineer, and was named to his present position in 2011. He has served in several codes- and standards-related activities with the American National Standards Institute, NFPA and for the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA), according to the release.

Shannon has been at NFPA for 23 years, having joined the organization as vice president and general counsel in 1991.
