PLANO, Texas—ALCEA, the ASSA ABLOY company and global provider of total security solutions for critical infrastructure, has announced the appointment of Mark Daus as vertical market sales manager of oil & gas and mining.
With over 20 years of business development and sales experience, he is based in Dallas and reports to Jeff Slaughter, head of business development.
Daus began his career as a NASA engineer with the space shuttle program and later became an IT professional. Most recently, he spent over a decade serving oilfield services companies and energy operators worldwide, supporting major global organizations including Halliburton and other multinational service providers. His deep experience across the Permian Basin and other major production regions gives him firsthand insight into the operational realities facing oil and gas operators today.
“Oil and gas operators are managing hundreds of remote, unmanned sites, often without reliable power or network connectivity,” said Daus. “At the same time, theft is increasing, insider access risk is real, and regulatory scrutiny is tightening. Traditional key control simply isn’t sufficient anymore.”
Daus noted that security in oil and gas must balance accountability with operational efficiency.
“Security solutions in this industry cannot slow down production or frustrate technicians in the field,” he said. “Operators need scalable, rugged systems that provide auditability without adding operational friction. That’s exactly where ALCEA’s intelligent key systems and hybrid locking solutions are uniquely positioned.”
With the oil and gas world shifting to digitally connected systems due to increasing regulatory scrutiny, Daus said ALCEA’s access control options provide operators with affordable mechanical, electromechanical, and keyless locking solutions to protect facilities and their high value assets.
“When you look at the footprint of well pads, tank batteries, pipeline valve sites, pigging stations, and right-of-way gates, you’re talking about hundreds of access points spread across remote geography. You can’t often justify deploying full electronic access control solutions everywhere,” he said. “What operators need is a cost-effective solution that delivers real auditability and accountability at scale. ALCEA’s access management platform fills that gap.”
