Another reorg at UTC

HARTFORD, Conn.—UTC has reorganized again, creating UTC Building & Industrial Systems by combining Otis Elevator Company and UTC Climate, Controls & Security, the company announced recently.

Geraud Darnis, most recently president and CEO of UTC Climate, Controls & Security, will serve as president and CEO of the new organization, according to the news release.

UTC Climate, Controls & Security was created in a 2011 reorganization. UTC later sold its fire and security branches

“This new structure will enhance our ability to deliver more integrated solutions to our customers and accelerate the next steps of innovation in smart building technologies and sustainable designs,” said Louis Chenevert, chairman and CEO of United Technologies, in a prepared statement. “It also better positions UTC to capture growth opportunities as the powerful urbanization megatrend in emerging markets continues, the global economy recovers and demand grows for more integrated building systems to make tomorrow's buildings more efficient, comfortable and secure.”

The high-tech building systems provider currently comprises more than 120,000 employees across more than 60 countries, bringing in $29 billion in annual sales, according to the release.

UTC Building & Industrial Systems' products include Otis elevators and escalators; Carrier heating, air conditioning and refrigeration systems; and various fire and security solutions.
