Assa Abloy ITG gains Latin American presence

IRVINE, Calif. - To expand its reach in the Latin American market, Assa Abloy ITG recently bought product distributor Codas Electronica based in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The deal, which includes a regional office in Mexico City, provides Assa Abloy ITG with a platform to better serve the Latin America market. Codas Electronica is now part of Assa Abloy Identification Technology Group, Latin America. Future plans call for establishing offices in Brazil and Uruguay. Codas Electronica will distribute HID and Indala products, said Luis Cosentino, managing director. That also involves overseeing the manufacturing of cards and readers locally. The result will be reduced shipping time for products sold in Latin American markets. Codas Electronica, which retains its name, will also take product orders, offer full card programming, technical support and customer care. Cosentino founded Codas Electronica with Daniel Schapira in 1985. The two remain with the company, while Humberto De La Vega was recently named the company's director of business development. De la Vega was previously HID's Latin America / Caribbean sales manager.
