Athena Security addresses unreported attacks with Healthcare Violence Reporting software

AUSTIN, Texas – Athena Security rose to the challenge recently with the release of its latest software targeting unreported attacks in the healthcare industry.

The Healthcare Violence Reporting software provides clients using Athena’s Weapons Detection System with the tools to document and analyze incident data easily to help solve an increasing number of attacks. According to a report by the U.S. Government Accountability Office violence against healthcare workers is 12 times higher than in the overall workforce, and another from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics found that healthcare workers accounted for 73 percent of all nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses due to violence in 2018.

“We were shocked as a security company when we discovered just how much healthcare violence goes unreported amidst the growing trend of attacks,” said Athena Security CEO Michael Green. “We wanted to make it simple to report and analyze the attack data and to solve this horrific problem that has 85 percent of emergency room doctors stating that violence is increasing.”

Security Systems News reached out to Athena Security to ask about the genesis of this project. “This was a client pain point that they asked us to solve for them,” Green said. “We listened to our clients’ needs and they requested it to streamline operations and to be able to gather this valuable information to enact effective change.” Green added that the Healthcare Violence Reporting software would be free to existing users of the Athena Security Weapons Detection System.

Healthcare Violence Reporting addresses its customer feedback directly through the introduction of several features including streamlined data input, data management tools and reporting tools, automated item retrieval and confiscation, comprehensive search tools, and the ability to take pictures of the items to allow for accurate item storage and return among others. These features combine to make a customizable platform for customers to fit their needs.

This effort may not be a one-off for Athena Security either as the company revealed that customers in other verticals are similarly requesting more features for their mobile-first digital security platform.

Athena Security describes itself as a cutting-edge Apple iPad temperature detection and gun detection security company. SSN covered the installation of their Weapons Detection System in a Louisiana school last year.
