Big week in the Big Apple

Big week in the Big Apple

There’s something uniquely energizing about attending industry events in your own city - especially when that city is New York.

Next week, I’m thrilled to be part of not just one, but two impactful gatherings in the security space - Securing New Ground (SNG) and the Federal Enforcement Homeland Security Foundation (FEHSF) Ridge Awards Gala.

Both events represent the very best of what our industry has to offer - vision, leadership, and a deep commitment to service. And both are happening right here in my backyard.

Securing New Ground, hosted by the Security Industry Association (SIA), has long been a cornerstone of the security industry calendar, bringing together the brightest minds, boldest innovators, and most influential leaders for two days of high-level networking, strategic insights, and forward-looking conversations. Since its founding in 1996, the event has become synonymous with thought leadership and trendspotting, and this year promises to be no different.

What makes SNG stand out is its unique ability to blend business intelligence with a pulse on the future. From deep dives into artificial intelligence and smart building technologies to discussions on mergers, acquisitions, and end user perspectives, the agenda is always packed with content that challenges and inspires.

Beyond the sessions, there’s something energizing about connecting with security innovators in person - especially in a city that thrives on ambition and reinvention. Whether it’s a quick coffee between panels or a deeper conversation over dinner, these moments often spark the ideas that shape the future of our industry.

Just as inspiring is the FEHSF Ridge Awards Gala, which honors the courage and sacrifice of federal law enforcement officers and supports their families in times of need.

The mission of FEHSF is one I deeply respect - providing emergency financial assistance to agents and their loved ones during life’s most difficult moments. The gala is a powerful reminder of the human side of our industry and the importance of standing behind those who serve.

The iconic Cipriani 42nd Street will be hosting this year’s FEHSF Ridge Awards Gala, a powerful evening that honors the courage and sacrifice of federal law enforcement officers.

This year’s honorees include Lifetime Achievement Award honoree Michael Chertoff, co-founder and executive chairman of The Chertoff Group and former secretary of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security; Patriot Award recipient Sean Plankey, senior advisor to the secretary for the U.S. Coast Guard and current Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) nominee; and Civic Shield Award honoree Srini Attili, executive vice president, Civilian Business Group, SAIC.

To have both events taking place in my backyard in New York City is a reminder of how this city continues to be a hub for leadership, resilience, and innovation, and I’m proud to be part of it.

See y’all next week in the Big Apple.
