Full results of Security 5k announced

LAS VEGAS--The results of the first annual Security 5k, held in Las Vegas last week to coincide with ISC West and to benefit the Mission 500 charity, have been announced. The event, put on in a joint effort by Reed Exhibitions (proprietors of ISC West), United Publications (publishers of Security Systems News and Security Director News), and Mission 500 (a charity dedicated to sponsoring 500 children each year through the World Vision charity), drew 307 registrations and 249 runners on race day. The event raised $30,000, which will support 90 needy children. Sponsors of the race were Altronix, Axis Communications, LRG, HID, Morse Watchmans, and STI. The timing sponsor was Diester Electronics.

The winner of the race was Eric Chabin, managing director at GE Security, based in the Minneapolis area, with a time of 18:31. Unfortunately, the race's leader, Acy Roff, made a course error, and while he finished in 17:03, he disqualified himself after the race, making Chabin the winner. However, Roff, a design consultant for Hy-Security Gate Operator, said, "the event was much appreciated and I really enjoyed networking with people from a security and fitness perspective - I was just out there to have fun. I didn't care if I finished first or last, honestly."

The first woman to cross the line was Karolina Orton, marketing coordinator at Mate Intelligent Video, with a time of 21:18.
