Gamewell-FCI fire alarm system earns new UL listing

NORTHFORD, Conn.—The E3 Series fire alarm and communications system from Gamewell-FCI, a division of Honeywell, is now listed to a new Underwriters Laboratories standard, according to a company statement. The standard, ANSI/UL 2572, is a new requirement for all types of mass notification systems.

“All equipment will have to be tested and listed to this standard before they can affix a UL label to their equipment,” said Mike Madden, national sales manager for Gamewell-FCI, in the statement. “This allows engineers, designers and fire officials to choose only equipment that's been thoroughly tested and proven to provide the protection for the projects they're responsible for.”

Manufacturers have until April 10, 2015 to update equipment, which is the date the new standard will go into effect.

“We've always paid close attention to these standards when designing our products,” said Brian Carlson, strategic product manager for Gamewell-FCI. “That attention has paid off now that so little change is needed to make existing E3 Series systems fully compliant to 2572.”
