Gamewell-FCI: New touch-screen fire alarm panel simplifies use

NORTHFORD, Conn.—A full-color, touch-screen interface brings the style of smartphones and tablets to a new fire alarm system that provides smoke, carbon monoxide, gas and multi-criteria detection and more, Gamewell-FCI announced this week.

The company announced the release of its new S3 Series fire alarm panel Aug. 28. It bills it as “the industry's first small, addressable system that features an intuitive, touch-screen display to simplify system use for facility managers and first responders.”

Gamewell-FCI says the S3 Series simplifies use by eliminating buttons and text displays in favor of interactive screen that allows users to explore system status, events and system service. The touch screen allows users to easily access critical system information, and they can set the system's five buttons as shortcuts to access specific information, according to the company.

The display screen is designed to be removable and can be installed as many as 3,000 feet from the system panel. Only one pair of wires is needed to connect a network of S3 Series systems, between one and 122 panels, so the system can expand over time at minimal cost, the company said. The S3 Series can also connect to the Internet for ease of monitoring.
