Honeywell modernizes Marine Corps barracks access management

ATLANTA—Honeywell Technologies announced the successful deployment of a modernized access control platform for the U.S. Marine Corps, helping standardize and streamline barracks security management across installations worldwide.

Managed and supported by the U.S. Navy's Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic, the program uses Honeywell's LenelS2 OnGuard access control system as part of the Marine Corps' Barracks 2030 modernization initiative. The platform provides centralized access management designed to improve security, increase operational efficiency and meet Department of Defense cybersecurity requirements.

Before the initiative, access control systems varied across Marine Corps installations, with many facilities relying on standalone locks and manual credential updates. Barracks managers often had to visit individual doors to change access permissions, creating administrative burdens and limiting visibility into access activity.

Using a government-provided cloud environment, the Marine Corps implemented a centralized platform that enables remote credential management, activity monitoring and standardized security policies across participating installations.
