Intelligent IP video surveillance growing in popularity, report says

DALLAS—The growing popularity of intelligence IP video surveillance is due in part to the development of wireless IP cameras, according to a ReportsnReports research report released Nov. 24.

One factor driving the growing use of intelligent video surveillance is increasing retail shrink worldwide, analysts found. The scalable systems can be operated from a central server, allowing fewer people to conduct more surveillance, according to the report. They can also be accessed from laptops, computers or other wireless devices.

Increased use will drive growing revenue in the intelligent video surveillance market, which the report says should increase at a CAGR of 27.12 percent between 2012 and 2016.

High initial installation costs inhibit growth, the report says, and the market is fragmented with growing competition between new and existing vendors.
