Intertek scholarships encourage women in science, technology

ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill.—Intertek is offering a new scholarship and internship program for undergraduates pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering and math, the company announced Dec. 12.

At least one of the five scholarships, up to $10,000 each, will be specifically offered to female candidates, according to Intertek, a provider of quality and safety solutions for the security industry, among others.

“This scholarship program will give rising stars in the engineering field access to the skills and knowledge they need, while funding their future,” said Cindy Weidmann, Intertek regional VP of North America marketing, in a prepared statement. “We also hope to encourage women to follow their dreams and pursue careers in science and technology.”

The scholarships are open to full-time, currently enrolled sophomores and juniors at accredited colleges and universities in the U.S. and Canada. Students must be pursuing careers in engineering. Applications are due Jan. 17.
