Iveda debuts real-time zero-shot AI for video detection

MESA, Ariz.—Iveda has announced the launch of a real-time “zero-shot” artificial intelligence (AI) detection capability within its IvedaAI platform, allowing users to create and deploy video analytics models using natural language prompts.

The feature enables operators to input a term such as “shoplifting” or “suspicious behavior,” which the system then converts into an active detection model applied to live or recorded video feeds. According to the company, the process eliminates the need for traditional model training, data labeling and deployment timelines.

David Ly, CEO and founder of Iveda, said the capability is designed to streamline how video analytics models are created and used.

“For years, building an AI detection model meant collecting data, labeling it, and waiting,” he said. “Now, a retailer can type ‘shoplifting’ and, in seconds, have a model running across their camera network.”

Focus on behavior-based detection

Iveda said the system leverages vision-language models combined with its existing object detection technology to interpret behaviors and context rather than rely solely on predefined datasets.

The company said early testing with a large global retailer showed the system could identify behavior such as individuals monitoring staff-only areas or repeatedly surveying entry points.

In addition to shoplifting, the platform supports prompts for:

• Suspicious or pre-incident behavior
• Loitering in restricted areas
• Graffiti or vandalism activity
• Smoking in prohibited zones
• Aggressive or physical altercations

Deployment options

Iveda said the capability is available through two deployment models:

• Cloud-connected mode, which enables processing without additional on-site infrastructure
• On-premise deployment, using the company’s Cosmos-Reason engine for environments requiring local processing and closed networks

The company said an updated version of the on-premise system is expected to be released within the next quarter.

The zero-shot detection feature is available as an add-on license within the IvedaAI platform, the company said. Existing users can activate the capability through the current dashboard.
