OCAA looks to turn divots into dividends

May 27, 2004 MARINA DEL REY, Calif. - The Orange County Alarm Association will host its annual golf tournament on Wednesday, June 16, at the Westridge Golf Club in La Habra. The proceeds of the event will benefit the California Alarm Association Youth Scholarship program for children of law enforcement and fire service personnel. The event will also fund OCAA outreach programs, including events that promote interactions between police and fire departments and the alarm industry. The scholarship is available for high school seniors who have at least one parent that is active in either the law or fire fields. Eligible students must maintain a 4.0 grade point average, participate in extracurricular activities and submit an essay on how their parent helps secure the community. The OCAA, which is one of 10 chapters in California, will award scholarships to four students within its chapter. The golf event typically attracts between 90 to 100 players each year, according to Jerry Lenander, executive director of the California Alarm Association.
