Patero, Orilla announce strategic partnership

COLLEGE PARK, Md.—Patero, a provider of post-quantum encryption technologies, has partnered with Orilla, an edge-native software company focused on industrial artificial intelligence (AI) and data operations, to deliver a secure platform designed to support AI deployments across distributed industrial environments.

The jointly developed offering aims to enable organizations to deploy and manage AI at the edge - including in environments such as energy sites, manufacturing facilities and critical infrastructure - while protecting data from both current cyber threats and emerging risks tied to quantum computing.

As industrial operators expand the use of AI across decentralized systems, data security has become a growing concern, particularly as systems generate and process sensitive operational data outside traditional IT environments.

The companies said the platform integrates secure communications across multiple layers, including machine-to-machine workflows, site-to-site connections and edge-to-cloud data pipelines used for analytics and AI training. It also supports remote access for operators and contractors.

The announcement comes as government agencies and infrastructure operators increase focus on post-quantum security. U.S. Department of Defense leadership has called for cryptographic inventory and migration planning across IT and operational technology environments, while industry groups have warned of long-term risks to encrypted data from so-called “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks.

Patero and Orilla said their combined platform is intended to address these concerns by supporting quantum-resistant encryption and crypto-agility, allowing organizations to adapt as standards evolve. The companies also position the offering as an alternative to legacy VPN-based architectures, replacing them with session-based encrypted connections.

The companies said the joint solution is available for pilot deployments and is being positioned for original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners, system integrators and government or critical infrastructure programs.
