Protectron expands British Columbia presence

December 25, 2003 MONTREAL - Protectron Inc. has strengthened its presence in the British Columbia market, announcing late last week its acquisition of Valley Alarms and its 4,000 customers. “Valley Alarm’s 4,000 subscribers, combined with Protectron Inc.’s existing customers, bring the number of subscribers in British Columbia to over 24,000,” said Daniel Demers, president and chief executive officer of Protectron. Terms of the transaction were not released. Demers said the acquisition of Valley Alarm fits with the company’s growth strategy and provides it with fast access to a high-potential Canadian market. The acquisition of Valley Alarms brings the company’s total number of remote surveillance subsribers to more than 170,000. Founded in 1982, Valley Alarm sells and installs electronic security and provides remote surveillance services to residential and business customers. Company officials at Protectron expect many of Valley Alarm’s jobs will be maintained.
