SIA announces Antoinette King as latest speaker for 2022 SIA GovSummit King's session will go over the main purposes of CMMC and discuss the differences between CMMC 1.0 and CMMC 2.0

SILVER SPRING, Md.—The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced that Antoinette King, PSP, DPPS, SICC, CMMC-RP, founder of Credo Cyber Consulting, LLC, is the latest addition to the speaker lineup for the 2022 SIA GovSummit, its annual public policy and government security technology conference.

This year’s SIA GovSummit takes place May 24-25 in the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) headquarters building in Washington. D.C., after last year’s conference was held virtually.

King’s session - CMMC 2.0 – What You Need to Know - is scheduled for Tuesday, May 24th, from 3:30 p.m.–4:00 p.m. ET.

The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) has developed a new standard for securing the defense industrial base, the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), which focuses on cybersecurity maturity at the procurement process requiring a minimum level of cybersecurity maturity before being permitted to participate in the contracting process.

In late 2020, the DOD published the first iteration of CMMC, which outlined the tiered framework, required assessments and implementation process, with an expected five-year phase in process. After careful consideration of this process and input from more than 850 sources, the DOD announced CMMC 2.0 in November 2021, with an updated program structure and requirements designed to achieve the primary goals of safeguarding controlled unclassified information.

This session will review the main purposes of CMMC and discuss the differences between CMMC 1.0 and CMMC 2.0.

“I am thrilled to have been chosen as a speaker this year for SIA GovSummit,” King exclusively told Security Systems News. “I am a huge supporter of having a public/private partnership when it comes to securing our nation. That holds true for physical security as well as cybersecurity. This event has always been successful in helping to make those connections. I will be providing an update on CMMC 2.0 and how these updates impact DIBS [Defense Industrial Base Sector] contractors.”

King has 21 years of experience in the security industry. She has held roles within the security industry that include engineered systems specialist, operations manager, regional sales manager and key account manager in both integration and manufacturing. Drawing on her two-plus decades of experience, King founded Credo Cyber Consulting in 2020 with the goal of providing her clients a holistic perspective on security, bridging the gap between the physical and cybersecurity domains with a focus on data privacy and protection.

King’s certifications include Board Certified Physical Security Professional – (PSP), certified Data Privacy Protection Specialist (DPPS) and SIA Security Industry Cybersecurity Certification (SICC). Her degrees include an A.S. in criminal justice, a B.S. in managing security systems and an M.S. in cybersecurity policy and risk management. King has published and presented on various security topics in several capacities including articles, white papers, keynotes, webinars, panel discussions and corporate talks.

King actively participates in many security industry associations, including ASIS International, holding positions as assistant regional vice president of Region 5D, member of the Women in Security (WIS) Global Council and co-chair of the WIS Publications Committee. She is also an active member of the Security Industry Association (SIA), serving on the SIA Ethics Working Group and Data Privacy Advisory Board and serving as vice chair of the Cybersecurity Advisory Board. Additional industry association affiliations include Women in Cybersecurity and InfraGard.

SIA GovSummit focuses on how government leverages security technologies to drive success across a wide spectrum of missions.

This annual government security policy and technology conference examines emerging policy trends, technology needs of the government and changes in the risk environment that shape development of products and advanced systems integration to meet evolving security challenges.
