Signature Media adds two to mix

September 11, 2003 BOSTON - Home integration firm Signature Media Group has acquired two more companies as its continues on its path to becoming the leading nationwide residential systems integration firms under the SMG brand. With the acquisition of Engineered Environments, in Oakland, Calif., and Residential Systems, in Denver, SMG now has coast-to-coast geographic coverage, company officials said. Engineered Environments will add a its Oakland location and planned satellite office in San Francisco and a presence in Lake Tahoe to the mix, while Residential Systems brings to the group a new showroom in Golden, Colo., and coverage of the Colorado ski areas. Both Engineered Environments President and Founder Randy Stearns and Residential Systems President and Founder Ken Karnes will enter into employment contracts with SMG when the acquisitions close. No changes to management or employees of either company are planned at this time, company officials said. "The acquisition of Engineered Environments and Residential Systems, when consummated, will give us presence in two of the more important geographic markets in the U.S. - Northern California, including the greatest market shares in the San Francisco Bay area and Lake Tahoe, and Colorado, including the greatest market shares in Denver and its ski resort areas,"said Jim Monroe, chief executive officer of Signature Media Group. The company, which formed in July, is comprised of four other wholly owned subsidiaries: Integrated Media Systems, Sterling, Va.; Progressive Audio, Columbus, Ohio; ProLine Integrated Systems, Highland Park, Ill. and Advanced Audio Design, Sarasota, Fla.
