“The best is yet to come”: ADI president charts bold future ahead of Resideo separation

MELVILLE, N.Y.—Rob Aarnes, president of ADI Global Distribution, sees the company’s pending spin-off from Resideo as a “natural next step” in its evolution.

The announcement on July 30 that Resideo intends to separate its ADI Global Distribution business (ADI) sent ripples throughout the security industry.

ADI Global DistributionResideo President and CEO Jay Geldmacher stated in the announcement that both companies are now set to “unlock their full potential” with this separation, projected to take place in the second half of 2026.

Seamless transition

With ADI becoming an independent public company, Aarnes is confident that the transition will be seamless, and the low-voltage products distributor will thrive on its own.

“Over the years, ADI has grown significantly by expanding our portfolio, footprint, and customer network,” he stated. “As an independent business, ADI will benefit from a sharper strategic focus and dedicated operational and financial resources, allowing us to better serve customers and accelerate growth."

Echoing Geldmacher’s sentiments, Aarnes envisions the separation as an opportunity to unlock new potential for the business.

“By strengthening our core distribution capabilities, expanding into adjacent spaces, and delivering innovative products and services, we’ll be better positioned to help our customers grow and succeed,” he explained. “And with our dedicated team and a proven track record, including the integration of Snap One, we’re ready to drive long-term value and help move the industry forward.”

Growth strategy

Operating independently, Aarnes says, will also allow ADI to gain “greater agility” to execute its growth strategy, without changes to its core direction.

As part of its strategic plan, ADI has identified product categories with the most growth opportunities for ADI and its customers and expanded its offerings both organically and through targeted M&A. Aarnes cited several such acquisitions in the past few years that have, “...significantly enhanced our capabilities, extended our footprint, and strengthened our ability to deliver even greater value to customers,” including Snap One, which it completed in 2024.

Business as usual

As ADI enters this next chapter, Aarnes noted that the distributor’s top strategic goal over the next 12 months is to build on the momentum of its integration with Snap One, while also preparing for its future as a standalone company.

But for now, it is business as usual.

“Our team remains focused on delivering value through continued integration efforts,” Aarnes noted. “This includes cross-sell initiatives, combined store openings, and ongoing digital platform enhancements to improve the customer experience.”

He concludes saying, “We have the best team in the industry, and we are ready for this next chapter of our business. The best is yet to come for ADI.”
