Vivint Solar buys company that monitors installed systems' performance

PROVO, Utah—Vivint Solar, an affiliate of home automation/home security provider Vivint, has purchased Solmetric, a company that makes tools to assess sites and performance, the company announced Jan. 24.

Solmetric instruments and hardware assess potential sites and monitor the performance of installed systems. It is now a wholly-owned subsidiary of Vivint Solar, according to news stories.

“The Solmetric team has developed industry-dominant SunEye hardware and PV Designer software product lines that have maintained an impressive, satisfied customer base,” said Greg Butterfield, Vivint Solar CEO, in a prepared statement.

SunEye is a handheld tool for shade analysis and PV Designer helps installers assess the energy production potential of different systems during design.
