Washington transit police get new control center

WASHINGTON—The Washington DC Metro opened a new security operations control center in Hyattsville, Md., acting as a “hub for thousands of cameras inside and outside the metro rail stations,” ABC7 reported.
The center will monitor the 91 stations in the metro rail system. "It's real time capability but it's also the ability to go back in time and identify a potential witness, look at the assault, verify what happened," Metro Transit police chief Ron Pavlik, told ABC7.
"The ability to pan, tilt and zoom a camera now … to get a shirt, a logo, so all that information we can use to identify a person of interest or a suspect," Pavlik said in the report.
