Doyle expands footprint with acquisition of STAT Communications

Doyle expands footprint with acquisition of STAT Communications Acquisition adds an operating branch in Watertown, N.Y.

ROCHESTER, N.Y.—Doyle Security Systems, Inc., the largest family-owned New York State provider of residential and commercial security, fire and medical monitoring systems, has announced the acquisition of STAT Communications, a privately held company founded in Watertown, N.Y. in the 1950s.

STAT’s 3,800 security accounts and 1,200 medical monitoring accounts will now be monitored by Doyle Security’s emergency response center, while service and installation work will continue to be provided by STAT team members who are joining the Doyle team.

Jack Doyle, President, Doyle Integrated Systems and Support Services, told Security Systems News that Doyle Security Systems had been in contact with the ownership team at STAT for some time before acquiring the provider of state-of-the-art home and business security systems near Watertown and the surrounding areas.

“We've long admired the work they've done in Watertown and knew that we had many similarities from a cultural and operational standpoint that would make them a perfect fit for our long-term vision,” he said. “STAT is a generational family business, as is Doyle, with similar vertical market focuses and business principles.”

Along with the acquired accounts, Doyle Security will retain STAT Communications’ Watertown office and 22 employees, including current CEO Bruce Morgia and Vice President Travis Morgia.

Doyle Security President and CEO John G. Doyle Jr. added, “STAT Communications is a highly successful family business managed by the Morgia and Dawley families for more than 50 years. We are very fortunate to have Bruce Morgia and his team joining forces with us. Together, we will be able to provide even better security to more homes and businesses in Central and Northern New York and beyond.”

Watertown will become the ninth Doyle branch, joining Buffalo, Olean, Syracuse, Albany, Fishkill and Catskill, N.Y.; Erie, Pa.; and the corporate headquarters in Rochester, N.Y.

“The STAT acquisition will give us one new branch location in Watertown, N.Y. and a new base of customers located primarily in that area, but also expanding into our existing footprint in Syracuse, Rochester, Albany, and Buffalo,” Jack Doyle noted.

In 2020, Doyle Security acquired Austin Security in Olean, N.Y. and Hart Alarm in Albany, N.Y.

Jack Doyle said that there are some opportunities for acquisitions on the horizon that “we can't speak about publicly at the moment, but we remain highly interest in opportunities that complement our geography and recurring focused dealer model.”

When asked about any new business initiatives being introduced in the coming months to continue supporting Doyle’s mission, he responded, “We're looking forward to launching a new access control product to our core managed-access customer base that will leverage cloud architecture and enhance the customer experience significantly.”
