In brief: Amadeus leads flurry of acquisitions, Cook & Boardman rebrands, Axis expands in the Americas

MADRID, Spain—Global travel technology provider Amadeus has announced its intention to acquire biometrics and identity services provider IDEMIA Public Security (IPS) for $1.4 billion.  

IPS, based in Courbevoie, France, has a global footprint and a diversified customer base across public and private sectors. The acquisition will further strengthen Amadeus’ biometric and identity capabilities, leveraging IPS’ technology, end-to-end platform, and strong global blue-chip-client base. It will follow Amadeus’ 2024 acquisition of biometric travel technology provider Vision-Box. 

With trusted digital identity becoming a foundational layer across the end-to-end travel journey, and as biometric adoption quickly accelerates across the travel industry, this acquisition will accelerate Amadeus’ growth in airports and border verticals, enhancing its position in this space, underlining the company's deliberate strategy to bring biometric identity capabilities into its core travel platform. 
 
By integrating biometric capabilities with airline, airport, border systems, and hotels, Amadeus can support the next phase of automation, delivering more seamless, automated, and AI-enabled travel journeys while ensuring a secure identity layer exists across the entire journey. A combined Amadeus-IPS offering will also drive the further digitalization of core travel processes, delivering faster, more secure inter-connectivity between a range of stakeholders. Biometrics allows identity to be verified instantly, enabling faster processing, better security, and more efficient operations. 

At the same time, this acquisition will increase Amadeus’ ability to connect touch points across the traveler journey, positioning it in line with its ambition to be an orchestrator of the travel ecosystem, enabling Amadeus to support a more integrated passenger journey from booking, through airport processing, and boarding.

IPS employs around 3,300 people worldwide and serves more than 600 public and private sector customers. Beyond passenger processing, IPS capabilities also extend secure identity into adjacent, complementary, and regulated environments such as access control and government grade biometric identification and data solutions, where trusted identity is critical. This will deepen Amadeus’ capabilities in secure identity and naturally extend the breadth and reach of Amadeus’ offering. 

The intended acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, with closing expected mid-2027. 

RapidFire Safety & Security acquires Stratex Integrated Solutions 

ST. LOUIS—RapidFire Safety & Security has acquired Stratex Integrated Solutions (Stratex), expanding its Greater Los Angeles footprint and reinforcing its commitment to delivering a high-quality customer experience across the region. 
 
Founded in 2005, Stratex is a provider of access control, video surveillance, intrusion alarm, and fire life safety systems for commercial facilities across the Greater Los Angeles area. The team delivers projects ranging from straightforward installations to fully integrated systems for new construction and modernization. 
 
With the acquisition, RapidFire expands its ability to serve customers in a high-growth market with enhanced fire protection and electronic security capabilities. Stratex will continue supporting customers locally, backed by RapidFire’s additional resources and regional scale.

Securitas acquires Denmark-based CamVision  

STOCKHOLM, Sweden—Securitas has acquired CamVision, a Danish technology-driven security specialist with a strong position in retail loss prevention and electronic security solutions.  

The acquisition strengthens Securitas' ability to deliver reliable and scalable security solutions for micro and small single-site businesses as well as larger, multi-site clients across Denmark.  

For micro and small businesses, the acquisition enhances Securitas' offering of standardized, packaged security solutions that combine proven technology with dependable service delivery. For larger and multi-site clients, it further strengthens Securitas' capability to deliver advanced, technology-led security systems designed for complex operational environments.

Pye-Barker Fire & Safety acquires APS Corporation 

ATLANTA—Pye-Barker Fire & Safety has acquired APS Corporation, a security and fire alarm specialist based in Branchburg, N.J. The acquisition adds to Pye-Barker's significant presence in the state by deepening operational capacity, diversifying expertise and growing its local service teams. Founded in 1981, APS Corporation was established by Daniel F. Jacquish, who used his background in law enforcement to provide tailored security services. The company specializes in the installation, service, inspection and integration of commercial and home security systems, fire alarms, access control and video surveillance. Its systems designers and integration specialists are experts in Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), Remote Programming Software (RPS) and remote system diagnostics. APS has proven experience managing complex security systems for sectors like education, pharmaceuticals and government, with a client base ranging from small businesses to Fortune 100 corporations. 

Octave strengthens physical security portfolio with acquisition of VXG Inc. 

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.—Octave, the planned software spinoff from Hexagon AB, has announced the acquisition of VXG Inc., a provider of enterprise-grade, cloud-native video management software. Octave’s portfolio simplifies complexity across the asset lifecycle. CBX Solutions unifies Cook & Boardman under new brand

HID enables enterprise passkeys governance without user friction 

AUSTIN, Texas—HID has announced the availability of Enterprise Attestation in its FIDO (Fast Identity Online) authenticator portfolio of smart cards and keys. This FIDO standards-based capability enables organizations to enforce only company-issued passkeys at registration, proving authenticator provenance before a credential is ever accepted. Elizabeth Willi named 2026 Fire and Life Safety Educator of the Year 

QUINCY, Mass.—The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) has announced that Elizabeth Willi, public information officer for Palm Harbor Fire Rescue in Florida, has been named the 2026 Fire and Life Safety Educator of the Year. Willi will be formally recognized at the annual Stars at Night Awards gala during the NFPA Conference & Expo in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 21. Willi brings more than 20 years of leadership in fire and life safety education, building a sustainable, community-wide prevention model grounded in NFPA programs and resources. By integrating NFPA materials into lesson planning, outreach, and long-term initiatives, she has institutionalized prevention efforts beyond traditional campaigns. She has delivered targeted education to high-risk populations, including kitchen fire safety programs for older adults in low-income housing facing language barriers, and NFPA-based curricula for teens through her Safe Sitter program.
