DALLAS - Brinks Home was hit with a cyberattack it reported last week, with unauthorized access to a portion of its IT systems.  

In a notice posted on its website the company says: The party responsible for this situation has threatened to release information it claims to have taken. We are aware that such material may be posted publicly. Brinks Home is working diligently to determine what information was involved and who may be affected. If the company determines that personal information has been affected, it will notify those individuals as required and as appropriate. 

In a statement to Security Systems News, the company said: 

“Brinks Home recently identified a security incident in which an unauthorized party gained access to certain company systems. Upon discovering the incident, we immediately activated our incident response plan, contained the activity, and engaged an industry-leading cybersecurity forensics firm to investigate. At this stage, we have no evidence that any personal or confidential information has been compromised or misused. Our systems are secure, and we are currently seeing no continued unauthorized access. We are working as quickly as possible to determine the full scope of what occurred and will notify affected individuals immediately should the situation change.”

Trivest launches security services support platform

Intel, Fortinet partner on next-generation security processor 

SANTA CLARA AND SUNNYVALE, Calif. – Intel Corporation and Fortinet have announced a strategic collaboration to develop Fortinet Security Processor 6 (SP6), expanding a long-standing relationship between the two companies. 

This collaboration combines Fortinet’s proprietary, purpose-built security processor expertise with Intel’s advanced design, packaging, and manufacturing capabilities to accelerate and strengthen SP6 development. This work will also help to improve the resilience and diversity of Fortinet’s global supply chain.

SIA marks milestone of 200 SIA OSDP verified products 

SILVER SPRING, Md. — The Security Industry Association (SIA) announced a major milestone in its SIA OSDP Verified initiative, with more than 200 device models now named OSDP Verified through the comprehensive program, which validates device conformance to the SIA Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) standard. SIA OSDP is an access control communications protocol standard maintained by SIA to improve interoperability, add advanced functionalities and support an AES-128 encryption for security. Already in use by many leading manufacturers, the standard offers compliance with access control installations that require advanced security or are used in government per FIPS 201-3. Products that are OSDP Verified are displayed in the OSDP Verified Product List and can use the SIA OSDP Verified mark in their product marketing materials. “Since its launch in April 2020, the SIA OSDP Verified program has tested and validated 222 products from 32 companies and brands—substantial progress in six years, highlighting the market need and the program’s success,” said Cameron Walker-Miller, director of standards and technology at SIA. “The program now has representation in nine countries across North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and we’re seeing growing enthusiasm across domestic and international participation.” As of July 2026, 46 access control units and nine peripheral devices have been recognized as OSDP Verified.

SIA appoints Jacob Hengel chair, Video and Vision Subcommittee 

SILVER SPRING, Md.—The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Jacob Hengel of YourSix as the new chair of the SIA Video and Vision Subcommittee. Hengel is chief technology officer and board member at YourSix, which he co-founded in 2016. He oversees research and development and product, focusing on building technology that’s smarter, cleaner and engineered to perform at scale. Hengel’s foundation comes from hands-on field work pulling wire, configuring network and server infrastructure and deploying security systems, which gives him a grounded, practical perspective on how solutions need to work in the real world.  “I’m excited to step into the role of chair of SIA’s Video & Vision Subcommittee, following the leadership of immediate past chair Brian Karas and previous chair James Marcella, as we work to advance the industry-wide standards that shape how video gets used across security, operational and intelligent-video applications,” said Hengel. “When the work lands well, it shows up as real guidance: our published Cannabis Industry Video Retention Guide is a good example of the kind of vendor-neutral resource this group can produce. PRYME, PositionPTT expand partnership

NFPA: On-duty deaths increased in 2025 

QUINCY, Mass. – The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) released its “Fatal Firefighter Injuries in the U.S. in 2025” report today, which showed that a total of 83 U.S. firefighters died while on duty, or as a result of heart attacks, strokes or medical conditions within 24 hours of duty, a 17% increase over the 69 fatalities reported in 2024, with the majority of the on-duty fatalities (65, or 78% of the total) resulting from traumatic injuries, heart attacks or medical conditions. The remaining 18 fatalities involved heart attacks while firefighters were off duty but occurred within 24 hours of on-duty activity. “While we do see fluctuations in the number of firefighter fatalities each year, as we did in 2025, there has been a consistent downward trend in the number of annual fatalities since the study began nearly 50 years ago,” said Richard Campbell, senior research analyst at NFPA and lead author of the report. 

ParaZero, Axon Vision integrate

DMP introduces video leadership team 

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Digital Monitoring Products (DMP) has announced the appointment of Nicola Oakie, Pete Jankowski and Stephen Carney to its video solutions team. The team will report to Ken Francis, DMP executive vice president of video solutions. “Video monitoring requires specialized expertise across technology and channel segments, so assembling the right leadership team is essential,” Francis said. “Our success depends on understanding cameras, analytics, software, monitoring center workflows and dealer success as part of a single ecosystem. I’m thrilled to say this team is made up of some of the most experienced individuals in the industry.” 

• Oakie will join DMP as senior director, commercial monitoring solutions. She recently served as the VP of sales at Netwatch North America and led national sales at the National Monitoring Center. 

• Jankowski will assume the role of vice president of video engineering. Jankowski is the founder and former chairman of Next Level Security Systems, Inc., where he was integral in launching the company’s first fully integrated security platform.  

• Carney will lead DMP product marketing. He recently served as president of Shooter Detection Systems and has held multiple executive leadership positions at HID Global, where he led product management and marketing initiatives focused on access control, cloud solutions and mobile credentials.

Videoloft launches direct integration for Hanwha cameras, NVRs and DVRs 

MILTON, England – Videoloft has launched a direct integration with Hanwha Vision, allowing businesses and security integrators to connect Hanwha cameras and recorders to the Videoloft platform. The integration supports Hanwha cameras, NVRs and DVRs, including equipment previously sold under the Hanwha Techwin, Samsung Techwin and Wisenet names. Once connected, Hanwha cameras can be viewed and managed alongside cameras from other supported manufacturers through a single Videoloft account. This gives organizations with multiple sites or a mixture of camera brands one place to manage their video, rather than requiring separate systems for different locations or equipment. “Demand for Hanwha support has grown as more customers and security integrators move away from Hikvision and Dahua systems,” said James West, CEO and co-founder of Videoloft. “We developed this direct integration in response, giving them a dependable way to connect Hanwha cameras and recorders to Videoloft without relying on ONVIF.” The launch supports Videoloft’s wider approach to cloud migration: organizations should be able to modernize their video surveillance without being forced to replace functioning cameras or move to a closed hardware ecosystem. 

Gatekeeper Systems inks SEPTA contract 

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. – Gatekeeper Systems Inc., has entered a contract with Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA) to provide inspection, maintenance, testing and contract support services for SEPTA’s on-board vehicle video system project. SEPTA has approximately 3,000 vehicles equipped with a vehicle video system including buses, trackless trolleys, railroad trains, high-speed trains, light-rail vehicles, customized community transit and SEPTA police vehicles. The contract is for an initial three-year period commencing September 2026 along with two consecutive one-year option terms to be exercised at SEPTA’s sole discretion for a total amount of US$13,426,933.67 (including both options), or approximately C$19 million in aggregate over five years at current exchange rates. SEPTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States. SEPTA supports five counties in the Greater Philadelphia area and connects to transit systems in Delaware and New Jersey. Services include regional rail, buses, trolleys, subways and a high-speed line.
