Michigan student wins $10,000 ESA scholarship

IRVING, Texas—A high school student from Michigan is the recipient of the Electronic Security Association's $10,000 scholarship, according to an ESA statement.
Cameron Hein of Pinckney, Mich., was selected based on his essay submission and academic achievements. The $10,000 award is the prize for ESA's Youth Scholarship Program.
To be eligible for the scholarship, a student must be between 15 and 20 years old, a graduating high school senior, and have been accepted for admission to an accredited college or university. Each student must have a father, mother or guardian who is an active-duty, full-time police officer, firefighter or volunteer firefighter. The essay was titled, “What It Means to Me to Have My Parent or Guardian Involved in Securing Our Community.”
“The work they do in protecting our communities can never be appreciated enough,” said John Knox, ESA president. “Awarding this first-place scholarship to a fine student like Cameron Hein is one of the ways we can thank our deserving public safety partners.”
Including Vivint's sponsorship of $10,000, ESA awarded $20,000 in scholarships to children of first responders through the program.
