Milestone gathers 400 security leaders to focus on AI-driven video intelligence

LAS VEGAS—More than 400 security professionals and end users gathered at Resorts World Las Vegas for Milestone XPerience Days (MXD) USA, where the company and its partners focused on the evolving role of artificial intelligence in video technology and its impact on security operations.

The two-day event brought together technology partners including NVIDIA and Dell, along with customers from sectors such as law enforcement, healthcare, transportation and smart cities, to explore how artificial intelligence (AI)-enabled video systems are moving beyond traditional surveillance.

“Milestone is bringing forward a future-proof video management platform built for the AI era, with analytics that help move security operations from reactive to more predictive,” said Andrew Burnett, chief technology officer at Milestone Systems. “Combined with the strength of our open platform, this creates new and powerful possibilities for customers and partners alike.”

Milestone also highlighted its broader platform strategy, which includes its XProtect video management software, BriefCam analytics and Arcules cloud-native VSaaS offering.

“We are transforming into one unified Milestone with an expanded product portfolio… all working together to help our customers capture everything and understand what matters most,” said Tim Palmquist, vice president of North America at Milestone Systems.

Executives emphasized the importance of an open platform approach as end users and integrators face a growing number of technology options.

“The pace of change and innovation means the open platform approach matters more than ever,” Palmquist said. “No single vendor can deliver everything or fully envision the technology of tomorrow.”

A key theme throughout the event was the role of AI in improving operational outcomes by reducing false alarms and surfacing more relevant insights for security teams.

“False alarms aren’t just an annoyance - they’re a trust problem,” Palmquist said. “When operators learn to ignore alerts because most of them don’t mean anything, the system stops working.”

The event also spotlighted the concept of “physical AI,” which refers to systems capable of analyzing and responding to events in real time. NVIDIA’s Adam Scraba joined Burnett for a keynote discussion on how AI is shifting from post-event analysis to real-time decision-making.

“Physical AI is the new frontier, where we move from systems that record the world to systems that understand it and act on it intelligently,” Burnett said.

In addition to technology discussions, the program featured panels with security leaders from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Harry Reid International Airport and Clark County School District, who discussed managing security operations at scale.

The event also included an exhibit hall featuring technology partners and sponsors, highlighting integrations across the Milestone ecosystem.
