Motorola Solutions completes $1.5 billion acquisition of D-Fend Solutions

CHICAGO—Motorola Solutions has completed its previously announced acquisition of counter-drone technology provider D-Fend Solutions for $1.5 billion, expanding its airspace security capabilities for public safety, government and enterprise customers.

The deal adds D-Fend's counter-unmanned aerial systems (C-UAS) technology to Motorola Solutions' portfolio, strengthening the company's ability to address growing threats posed by unauthorized drones.

Founded in Israel, D-Fend's technology is used by government, public safety and enterprise organizations in more than 30 countries. Deployments include airports, critical infrastructure sites, stadiums, military bases and border-security applications.

Motorola Solutions said it plans to integrate D-Fend's technology into its broader public safety ecosystem, giving security operators and first responders enhanced situational awareness and tools to assess and respond to aerial threats. As part of the transaction,

D-Fend Co-founder and CEO Zohar Halachmi will remain with the business and lead Motorola Solutions' counter-drone platform as senior vice president, Counter-Drone Solutions.
