NationWide Digital opens N.C. sales branch The new office will meet the needs of the company’s dealer program, which has a strong presence in the region

HOLLY SPRINGS, N.C.—NationWide Digital Monitoring Co., a Freeport, N.Y.-based central station monitoring service, just extended its reach in the Southeast with the opening of a regional sales office here.

The new branch will supplement the expansion of NationWide's dealer program, Security Doctors, which was launched in 2011 and continues to grow in the Southeast, making North Carolina a logical location choice. The sales office will serve as a locus for dealers in several states in the region, fostering strong relationships with existing dealers, while encouraging the addition of new ones.

“The Southeast has long been a hub for alarm dealers in general,” Howard Avin, vice president of sales and marketing at NationWide, told Security Systems News. “We have some really good dealers in the Southeast and we needed somebody down there to work with them and help them grow their businesses.”

Michael Davis, formerly the central station training manager, has been promoted from that position to lead the sales office as its regional account manager.

Davis' technical expertise, central station experience, and familiarity with NationWide's offerings all contributed to his appointment to the new position. “[Davis] has been with the company for a long time, and he has a lot of skills and knowledge that dealers can utilize,” Avin said. “As a central station manager he knows the nuances.”

Davis, who has more than 10 years of central station experience, says his former role provides a strong foundation for his new one—a sales position that requires meeting the diverse needs of individual dealers.

“I know what dealers are looking for by being on the inside and dealing with them one-on-one with personal accounts,” Davis said. “A lot of sales is about knowing what [dealers] want, how our software works, and how their systems communicate with our software.”

Aaron Wahrsager, president and CEO of NationWide, said in a statement that the dealer program's objective include education programs and expanding interactive services to broaden the sales base. The dealer program also includes a strong marketing component for affiliate alarm companies.

Besides monitoring services, Security Doctors provides security for homes and businesses, and personal emergency response systems. The network's service region covers the Atlantic states between Virginia and Florida, while reaching as far west as Tennessee and Kentucky to cover a total of eight states—for now.

“It could definitely expand to more than that,” Davis said. “This opens up a lot of new markets, and helps us be a lot more one-on-one with our dealers.”
