PEARL RIVER, N.Y. – Video management software (VMS) and enterprise incident management (EIM) provider Qognify announced that it has joined Hexagon as part of its Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division.

Qognify was acquired by Hexagon from tech company Battery Ventures late last year on Dec. 19, 2022. Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial Division President Steven Cost spoke about the acquisition in the company’s official release, saying, “Qognify extends our real-time monitoring and security reach to detect, assess, and respond to incidents, providing a more robust offering to the markets we serve.”

Hexagon goes on to state that Qognify’s VMS and EIM platform, Situator, complements its technology portfolio which includes HxGN OnCall Dispatch in public safety and HxGN Connect in the smart cities and manufacturing sector. Hexagon cites a growing demand for security and intelligence in those areas and meets that need with Qognify, which also extends their reach into the commercial, retail, financial, and business sectors.

“Qognify and Hexagon solutions have successfully been deployed together for large projects,” said Qognify President and CEO Steve Shine. “Now as one, Qognify and Hexagon provide a truly comprehensive proposition for organizations to optimize and safeguard their world for customers, employees, citizens and communities.”

Security Systems News spoke with Qognify’s Vice President of Physical Security Sales, Americas, Jeremy Howard at ISC West in March. Howard talked about the release of Qognify VMS, integration of the Axis Body Worn Camera, and a new feature called “Qognifinder.” Howard also discussed the acquisition by Hexagon.

“We were just acquired by Hexagon and not a lot of people in the security industry know who Hexagon is. They're big in the public safety arena, so that arena has a platform called CAD and that's not computer aided design it's computer aided dispatch. So, all the software that 911 centers use to dispatch fire, police, medics,” he said. “We're their first acquisition in the parallel security space. So, they see security as a natural area for them to start to create new growth. They dominate in that public safety sector, and this is a really nice fit for Qognify, a really nice landing spot for us. It makes a lot of sense. They're going to keep us separate, so they're not going to rebrand u. We'll still be Qognify, or Qognify, a Hexagon company, or something like that.”

Howard continued, “So, I’m speculating a bit, but I doubt we’ll be their last acquisition in the security space as well.”

Qognify has a comprehensive portfolio of VMS and EIM solutions. You can learn more about it online at www.qognify.com.
