UT Denton wins Stanley's Safer Schools grand prize

INDIANAPOLIS—The University of Texas in Denton is the grand-prize winner in Stanley Security's Together for Safer Schools Grant Program.

UT Denton will receive $200,000 for Stanley installed products and solutions, consultative security services, the development of security standards best practices and compliance education opportunities, according to Stanley.

Other winners are: the University of West Georgia in Carrollton, $150,000; Kilgore College in Texas, $100,000; the University of Texas in Arlington, $75,000; and Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Mich., $25,000. A sixth winner also was chosen and Stanley was awaiting official acceptance from the school before announcing it.

The Together for Safer Schools program, in its second year, was open to three tiers of colleges and universities based on student population size. Students, faculty, administrators, parents and alumni of the applicants then voted online.

The customized security solutions will be completed this year.
