Verkada achieves FedRAMP Moderate Authorization for Command platform

SAN MATEO, Calif.—Verkada has achieved Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate Authorization for its Verkada Command platform hosted in AWS (Amazon Web Services) GovCloud, with the U.S. Department of Energy serving as the sponsoring agency.

The authorization enables federal agencies and contractors to use the cloud-based platform to remotely manage physical security systems without on-premise infrastructure, while supporting artificial intelligence (AI)-driven analytics across distributed environments.

The Verkada Command platform allows centralized management of devices, users and sites, and supports a range of security and building technologies, including video security cameras, access control systems, environmental sensors and visitor management tools.

The company said its platform is built on zero trust principles and includes features such as single sign-on, multi-factor authentication, role-based access controls, and encryption of data at rest and in transit. Additional capabilities include audit logging and privacy controls such as face blurring and configurable privacy regions.

Verkada said its government-focused offering supports several product categories, including video surveillance, access control, third-party camera integration, cellular connectivity, air quality monitoring and visitor management.

The company also meets several other compliance standards, including SOC 2 Type 2 and multiple ISO certifications, and offers products that comply with FIPS 140 and federal procurement requirements.

Verkada’s platform is now listed on the FedRAMP marketplace and available through government procurement vehicles including GSA Schedule and NASA SEWP V, among others.
