ZE Government Solutions secures another Air Force contract for LiDAR tech threat detection

PHILADELPHIA – ZE Government Solutions (ZEGS), subsidiary of AI-based gun detection provider ZeroEyes, announced that it has been selected by AFWERX for a SBIR Phase I contract to investigate the potential of LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) technology for threat detection.

ZEGS stated that the integrated solution will combine their AI-based object detection video analytics with LiDAR data, enabling operation teams to proactively identify, track, and respond in real-time to imminent threats that are obstructed by a variety of materials. With this critical situational awareness, the teams will have the upper hand when it comes to unknown threats that are in close proximity or inside buildings.

ZEGS has previously secured contracts for several developments of their platform with the U.S. Air Force’s Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS), thermal detection, and deployment to edge-based devices like body cameras. Security Systems News (SSN) reached out to ZEGS to inquire if this recent development of LiDAR technology would see use in ZeroEyes’ civilian software. “At this time, ZE Government Solutions is investigating LiDAR strictly for the Air Force,” Sam Alaimo, co-founder and chief revenue officer of ZeroEyes wrote in response. “It will not impact ZeroEyes' AI-based gun detection and intelligent situational awareness platform."

“We look forward to demonstrating how ZeroEyes’ AI gun detection and situational awareness platform can integrate with LiDAR technology to assist with our national defense,” said Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes, parent company of ZEGS. “By merging these cutting edge technologies, we will enable our armed forces to detect and neutralize hidden threats rapidly and effectively, giving them an unparalleled advantage against aggressors.”
