ESA honors David Koenig with Weinstock Award

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—David Koenig, partner at Capital Fire & Security in Madison, Wis., has received the Morris F. Weinstock Person of the Year Award from the Electronic Security Association.

The award was presented June 18 at the Electronic Security Expo and ESA Summer Conference here.

The Weinstock Award recognizes dedication and leadership on behalf of the security industry. First presented in 1970, the annual award was initiated by the family of Morris F. Weinstock to honor the lifetime work of ESA's co-founder and past president.

Koenig's industry involvement dates to 1981, when he began as a central station dispatcher for Mid-Wisconsin Security, the ESA said in a prepared statement. Since then, he's been involved in all facets of the industry, at companies of all sizes and in roles ranging from sales and system installation to project management, budgeting, consulting and business operations.

Koenig, active in the ESA since 1985, is currently treasurer on the group's board of directors. He also plays a vital role as assistant treasurer of the Political Action Committee and chairman of the Budget/Audit Committee, the ESA said.

“Dave has gone above and beyond the 'normal' duties of a volunteer to help this association,” John Knox, ESA president, said in the statement. “The amount of hours he dedicates is indicative of his passion for, and belief in, this association and industry.”

The award is sponsored by Interlogix.
