NEW ORLEANS—Transforming billions of dollars in passive surveillance cameras into active crime prevention tools is the driving force behind what GSX speaker David Morgan calls one of the “most impactful” sessions taking place at the conference.
"Most video surveillance systems today are reactive, not proactive," said Morgan, co-founder of SD Marketing. "Organizations invest millions in cameras that essentially serve as expensive recording devices. They don't deter crime; they just document it."
Here’s a teaser for Morgan’s panel, “Revolutionizing Video Monitoring: AI Integration for Enhanced Security Operations,” which will take place Tuesday, Oct. 1, 9:45 a.m.-10:45 a.m. CST in Rooms 275 – 277.
Addressing integrator challenges
Pulling from his seven years of working with remote guarding providers via his nationwide security client network, Morgan will address critical challenges for integrators when it comes to video monitoring operations, including implementing advanced analytics, optimizing human-technology collaboration and ensuring seamless service delivery.
For a robust conversation on these topics, Morgan has assembled a diverse expert panel:
- Daniel Forrest, president of Becklar Remote Guarding, who he says “pioneered AI-enhanced monitoring before it became mainstream”;
- Aleksander Potempa, VP of technology solutions at Weiser Security Services, an independent guard company, who will offer insights on integrating virtual and physical security; and
- Kenny Klusman, regional manager at Pye-Barker Fire & Safety, who he says brings deep technical deployment expertise.
"Whether attendees are exploring remote guarding or already providing services, we'll show them how to leverage AI to create real value," Morgan notes.
Real-world scenarios
Morgan says he will steer the conversation toward applying AI to real-world scenarios that security professionals face daily.
"Picture a construction site at 2:47 a.m.," Morgan illustrates. "Traditional cameras capture intruders cutting the fence. By Monday, they'd stolen $30,000 in copper. With AI-enhanced monitoring, operators instantly detect the breach and deliver personalized warnings: 'You, in the black hoodie by the excavator, police have been dispatched.' The intruders realize someone's watching now and flee empty-handed."
Morgan says:
- Forrest will demonstrate how AI-enhanced monitoring prevents theft across multiple settings – logistics, utilities and retail.
- Potempa will share strategies for integrating virtual solutions with physical guards.
- Klusman will show technical implementation without overwhelming complexity.
