NEW ORLEANS —As artificial intelligence (AI) increasingly becomes a tool for both cyber and physical security, the question at hand for security providers is not whether they can replace human beings with AI, but whether they should.
That will be among the topics of discussion in a session at GSX, “Guardians of the Future: Emotional Intelligence Meets Artificial Intelligence in Security,” led by Brent O’Bryan, VP of global training and talent development at Allied Universal.
SSN: Can you tell me some more about your topic and what you’ll be discussing?
O’Bryan: We are entering a new era, often referred to as the Fifth Industrial Revolution. In this world, machines not only think, but feel, as artificial intelligence merges with emotional intelligence to reshape the future of security. The fears are significant, but not new. Every Industrial Revolution has invited similar concerns about humanity’s future. The constant has always been human fortitude, buoyed by emotional intelligence.
SSN: How does emotional intelligence intersect with modern security practices?
O’Bryan: Emotional intelligence does not just intersect with modern security; it shapes it, and it shapes the technology behind the practices that lead to the implementation of effective security programs.
SSN: If there was one thing you hope your audience takes away from this session, what would it be?
O’Bryan: Your competitive advantage isn’t the best AI—it’s the most emotionally intelligent humans working with that AI, directing this narrative toward a future of trust, resilience and human connection.
