ISC East lands Giuliani as keynote speaker

NORWALK, Conn.--Reed Exhibitions, based here and organizers of ISC East, announced this week that Rudy Giuliani, recent presidential candidate and former mayor of New York City, will offer the ISC East keynote address at 11 a.m. on Oct. 29, at the Jacob K. Javits Center in New York. Giuliani has a wide-ranging background in security, having had to deal with the tragedies of Sept. 11, 2001, and the resulting new security measures, as mayor of New York, as well as having founded security consulting firm Giuliani Partners and articulating a national security plan as a presidential candidate. His address will focus on the changing face of the security industry, crisis management and successful leadership practices. According to a Reed press release, “Giuliani was selected to speak at ISC East because of his vast knowledge of New York City’s infrastructure, how it operates, as well as his leadership role in rebuilding and revitalizing New York City in the wake of September 11. The experience he had as mayor during such a trying period has provided him with immense insight in running a city in a crisis situation. Giuliani will bring a unique approach to security improvements since September 11.” ISC East will also feature two day-long education programs, the IP Institute, run by Jim Gompers, and Enterprise Security Management, developed by ISC East staff. The IP Institute runs Oct. 29, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and costs $695. At the end of the day, dealers and end users alike will be certified as Physical Security Network Associates, with information on the latest trends, best practices, and new technologies involved in the design, implementation and support of IP-based physical security solutions. Enterprise Security Management runs Oct. 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and costs $395. The day features panels on selling security convergence, moderated by Dan Dunkel, a consultant with New Era Associates; physical security information management, headed by Tom Condon, of System Development Integration; and integrated physical/logical access control.
